Welcome to my blog! I’m so glad you’re here.
This site is definitely more than just a hobby for me. For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of being an entrepreneur, I just wasn’t quite sure exactly how I would make that happen or what I wanted to do. I knew what my passions were, but I didn’t know exactly how to turn that into a career. But I was determined not to lose sight of my dream.
I was a fashion major in college, but after several stints in retail I quickly realized that wasn’t the right route for me — at least not in Chicago, and I didn’t want to move to New York. I had several good jobs after that – “good” in the sense that I was working for great companies with great colleagues, but I was so incredibly unhappy. I was spending 40 hours in the car commuting every month (that’s an entire work week just spent in the car!! UGH!) and was over-stressed and underpaid (as is the case for far too many people!). Why was I spending all this time grinding at an office when I was barely making more money than I did nannying? Finally a promotion and a substantial raise came my way, but I was still deeply unhappy. Not only did a hate the commute, the workload, our busy season and high stress, etc., but staying at this job was robbing me of my dream of being self-employed. I would be kicking myself if I looked back in 5, 10, 20 years and knew I never took the leap to follow my dream. I at least had to try.
Blogging had piqued my interest in 2016, but launching and maintaining a blog while working full-time and actually trying to have a life on top of that just wasn’t in the cards. But I was so passionate about it — I had so many ideas and people were constantly stopping me to tell they loved my outfit or asking where I got my purse, what color nail polish I was wearing, what perfume I was wearing or wondering how I got my nails to grow so long. I knew it would be great content to share.
Yet far beyond a passion for fashion, I am passionate about life in general. There are so dimensions we need to have in order to really live a great life: family, friends and other meaningful relationships, faith, pets, health and wellness, mental health, self-esteem, job/career satisfaction, a sense of purpose and giving back, etc. Fashion, travel, home décor, great food, etc. are all just the icing on the cake that round out a great life. And I am aware how fortunate I am to live in a country that allows me to strive for what I want and enjoy these things.
My motto is “You only get one life, live it well.” And I hope this blog encompasses many of the topics, ranging all the way from practical to fun, that inspire you to live life well.
